2 days, 1 worthy cause

This inaugural event in 2022 saw hundreds of riders from all over Australia join the cause of raising awareness and raising funds to support the work of The Ricky Stuart Foundation and Autism Awareness Australia.. and I was lucky enough to be on the design team!

The event was loosely based on a similar one in the UK, sponsored by Rapha, who were on board for the Australian leg. Riders either joined the elite pack and rode 220kms in Canberra, or rode their own way in cities and towns across the country. Teams from both organisations and I sat down together and identified who we were talking to and how best to get our message across - we needed to motivate those road warriors in Lycra! We landed on a colour palette to tie into both charities, and a logo that could become a pattern to use across branded collateral.

Crucial to the event was the website

We engaged the Funraisin platform to build our event website and serve as the entry portal for our riders.

This required a bunch of learning on my part, but we got through it and created an easy user experience for all participants. Included on this site was an e-commerce component to offer merch ranging from bottles to slick Rapha r2r branded jerseys.

We then launched a strong social campaign across LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram, and hosted events pre ride with Rapha as a tasty extra!

The event was a huge success!

And we are back on this year with a lot of lessons learned and a lot more training planned beforehand!

"Kate went above and beyond in the ride2raise project ensuring exceptional user experience whilst learning to deploy on a new fundraising platform. As always, Kate excelled to deliver to the highest of standards, always putting our audience at the heart of her design." - Nic, Autism Awareness Australia
